8th Energy Research Programme
New funding announcement for applied energy research

03.06.2024 | updated on: 12.07.2024

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) has published a new funding announcement for applied energy research as part of the 8th Energy Research Programme. Companies, research institutions, universities and other organisations can now apply for funding.

New technologies, processes and services are needed to make Germany climate-neutral by 2045. At the same time, the resilience and security of the entire energy system must be maintained and expanded. In view of the tight timeframe, research results and their rapid transfer to the market are becoming increasingly relevant in energy policy. The current funding announcement supports this. It specifies the research needs that the BMWK identified its 8th Energy Research Programme. It also supports institutions in writing promising research applications.
